Sea Valor welcomes anyone affected by PTSD aboard s/v VALOR for a life-changing yoga and sailing experience. This experience is designed for people who are wanting to improve their overall mental health. Whether you are dealing with depression, anxiety, PTSD, grief, or could otherwise benefit from yoga and sailing, we welcome you for an unforgettable experience surrounded by kind and caring people. The class is taught by Kiran, one of the most incredible and authentic yoga instructors in the Bay Area.
We will depart Emeryville marina at 10am, pass the historic Berkeley Pier, and head towards Angel Island. We will dock at Angel island and spend approximately 1.5 hours there. We will choose one of several beautiful locations for the yoga session; perhaps a beach, or an overlook with breathtaking views. The session itself will be approximately 50-60 minutes.
After departing Angel Island, we will head west towards the Golden Gate Bridge. Conditions permitting, we will sail underneath the Golden Gate bridge and towards Point Bonita Lighthouse. We have seen whales, sea lions, seals, and dolphins out there, so keep your eyes open. After we reach the lighthouse, we will turn around and sail back under the Golden Gate bridge. We will pass Fort Point, Crissy Field, the Palace of the Fine Arts, and Ghiradelli Square, before reaching Alcatraz Island
Once at Alcatraz, we will sail as close as safely possible so guests can see the former military installations, prison, and wildlife. We will then head back towards San Francisco where we will sail next to the US Submarine Pampanito. We will then continue along Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39, The Embarcadaro, and the San Francisco Ferry Building. We will then head east and go underneath the western span of the Bay Bridge, around Yerba Buena Island, and underneath the new eastern span of the Bay Bridge where we will look for the elusive bridge troll statue. From there we will head past Treasure island, through the moored barge field, and back to Emeryville marina (unless people are having such a good time that they want to keep going, in which case we will head west and make the two-week sail to Hawaii).
